Default What to replace after AC compressor blew up

Hi.

My compressor AC compressor blew up
Now I am ready to tackle the job and want to know what should I look at and replace in addition to the compressor?
From searching online I can see multiple things such as accumulator or condenser or orifice tube or any mix there off without consensus.
Another question if compressor blew up would the debree go to the condenser or to the accumulator?
Is condenser on 4th gen "flush-able"? alot of ppl online say it impossible to flush condensers now-days.

Background:
Few years ago the AC clutch bearing gave up, I took off the belt (I don't drive the car much, so no ac did not bother me) . Prior to failure AC worked fine and the system remained pressurized. 2 years ago I get my **** together and attempt to replace bearing and pulley only. After replacement of the pulley and bearing AC worked for few minutes until loud noise and puff of smoke came came from the area. I assume something went wrong during pulley install (or oil starvation after being unused for few years) and compressor "blew up". Now with the belt off the AC shaft (not the pulley) spins freely without any resistance, indicating to me internal compressor failure. System does not have any pressure.

Thank you

Flush it out (lines and evaporator) and see what you catch. If it's clean, accumulator and orifice tube. If it's got crap in the system, then add a condenser to that list. Mine just bit it after 328,000 miles and only replaced the accumulator and orifice tube. I'm seeing as low as 38° out of my vents.

Minimum accumulator canister and condenser. I would flush lines and replace the orifice also.

Thanks!

2nd problem is there a way to flush the AC system components without compressed air? I am a tree shade mechanic and don't have that readily acceptable? :-(

P.S.
TA_Freak..congrats on the miles! Respect

They sell AC line flush at the auto parts stores. Its probably behind the counter and probably 20 bucks a can. The great thing is all components are typically easy to get to, and you'll basically already have the lines loose to flush em out. With the 3 main underhood components new, lines flushed, orings replaced, pull the vacuum and charge and youll have freezer air for years to come.

Always always replace the dryer canister if the system has seen open air.. Water-vapor + refrigerant = burnt compressor..

I will tell you autozone has the flush canister on the loan a tool program im going to borrow it when I get ready to put my ac back together, wear eye protection and don't get the spray in your mouth or on you it stinks and tastes horrible but it will clean out some of the nastiest crud inside your lines and cores.

Hi Guys,

Your advice was followed. I however had to flush lines at home. A lot of stuff came out, orifice is completely blocked. See photos. Unfortunately I have another issue. Since the orifice tube was so contaminated I decided to try to flush evaporator. I only had a cup of solvent left, It went in the evaporator (through the top opening, connecting to accumulator) but nothing came out.

I tried blowing air through. This is fairly painful for me, i use the flush can to store air than go to the car blow and go refill and repeat. I did this 3 times and nothing came out. All solvent is in the evaporator. What do i do to get the evaporator clean? I hope taking out my evaporator+heater core is not my only option

.

Thanks
