Default Wet driver floor after rain

Hey all.

I have a 98 z28 (HARDTOP). After any rain, my driver floor is either wet a little bit, or soaked. It has rained for about 3 days, and the car has sat. Just checked my driver floor, and it was soaked. Seals look ok...

What could be causing this? It appears that the windshield has been replaced before. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Do you park your car on a hill or is the ground flat?

It is flat. Never drive it in the rain either

I'd start by sitting in the car and having someone spray it with a water hose. Hopefully you'd be able to track down the leak that way.

Since it's a hardtop I think you may have answer your own question. Being you said the windshield may have been replaced that's were I would look to first. Just remember that water follows the path of least resistance!

ive sat in the car and had someone do that. Didn’t see anything! I’m guessing it’s trickling down after a while...

It appears to be dry by the pedals. It looks like the water begins next to the door seal to the left of the puddle.

How is your weather stripping around the door glass? Is it fully formed...or is it flat and squished? I do know a lot of times the door glass can be adjusted upward a tad bit so its tight against the weather stripping. Some don't push nice and tight.

As for the windshield, you could put some sealant all the way around the sides and top. I would use urethane and not actual windshield sealant. The sealant is too watery in its consistency.

It appears to be fine. The glass sits against the seal pretty tight!

Check the hood latch cable grommet on the inside firewall . That's where mine leaked .

Bump.
I took my car to have the windshield replaced, and they brought me back and said everything looked fine. Took the cowl out and sprayed water down the drains and nothing.

Any ideas? I sprayed the hood release cable grommet for 3 minutes straight and nothing.

are the weep holes in the bottom of the door plugged? Maybe the culprit.
I think its either door seal or window seal
A good way to check window seal is shut a dollar bill in the door and let the door glass and seal pinch the dollar. if the dollar slides out, the window needs adjustment

I have the exact problem with passenger side. The water is coming through the door panel mount holes in the bottom then flowing over the door gasket. My window felt on outside is torn, so a lot of water comes in. Took the door panel off and now no water comes in. I suppose the water is following the mounting tabs(water adhesion). I think it needs plastic sheeting on the inside of the door.

Test: Take off the door panel. Roll up window. Close door. Have someone run the hose over the door window/seal so water flows down in door. Watch for water entry! Bang head on steering wheel. Attempt a fix. Report back.

9/28/18 UPDATE: It appears the water is coming in through the speaker. Mostly where is mounts to the door.
Best of luck!

+1 ^ Had that problem on my El Camino. Replaced the inner plastic sheet and ensured that it ended inside the door frame, and also cleaned out the door bottom drain holes.
