Window Motor Replacement
Window Motor Replacement Is there anyone out there that has the steps to replace a dead drivers side motor for a 2001 Camaro SS?

Ok, from reading this. Its not simple, but just calling the dealer to check. $137 for the motor, and $200 for the labor. UMMMM RIP OFF.
drill out 3 rivets, and replace while securing the window. SORRY but that is not $200 worth of labor. And if I know this place they will scratch the hell out of my car while ( learning ) how do to this.

Just popped into this section to search for something on dead windows, and there it was at the top. My pass side does exactly the same thing.
I have a place close to me (East Side Perf.) that does good work cheap. I probably would not save much doing it myself. I'll stop by there tonight, and see what they say.

It seems harder than it really is. The only issue is there is not much room to work and it's pretty hard to see some of what you are doing. Just follow the directions and you should have no problem doing it yourself. I have done it a few times and now that I already have the holes drilled it takes me less than 30 minutes.
Oh and I am sure you probably saw from your search but go to Autozone and get the motor they sell. It's $40 and has a lifetime warranty.

Did it myself. Not bad at all.
My local discount auto store had it for $54, so I got it there. Interestingly enough, the chevy dealer was indeed $137, but the pontiac dealer was $126. Looks like I'll be shopping at pontiac for all the common stuff.

Thats what I did(well actually after friend of mine said the same thing), I looked it up at advanced auto, $54 with lifetime warrenty. MUCH Better then $137 + $200 install.

The way the dealer does it is tough. They pull out the entire regulator. I replaced my driver's window motor on my SS with the Autozone motor and it works great. It took me about 1 hour or so. I definetly wouldn't pay a dealer $300 for a motor replacement.

There is an $283 extra in my pocket. It was not that hard and works much better then the stock one ever did. The only thing different I did then what the instructions showed was remove the door speaker, it made access to install much easier.
