No I have solved several optima and other battery issues by installing antigravity atx30. 880 amp battery and lithium. Starts my high compression 427 with no issues.

Wife corvette had that damned charging system error for a year or better, and that battery fixed it after tweaking the tune settings and two alternators did not fix it.

Pretty much. We've had excellent success with the Delco's over about a 20 year period. Nothing wrong with the Interstates...IMHO they're more popular because of the HUGE amount of advertising they do.

I used to work for an equipment manufacturer that built the equipment for battery plants, we had most of that market at the time. I spent a lot of time traveling to install and service said equipment. The only difference between a Walmart Maxx battery and an Interstate battery besides the color of the case and tops was the Interstate was charged at a slightly higher amperage for a slightly longer time. This is also the only difference between them and the cheapo batteries that dont last long...

I think my battery weighs 5 lbs. maybe 4.x. Maybe 6. Either way it's a 880 amp battery and cheap WR

Napa Commercial Deep Cell - I buy these for my flat beds tow trucks
Optima Red Top - I buy these for my fork lifts
Optima Blue Top - I buy these for my car audio system
Optima Yellow Top - never used one
Autoparts International - These are cheap - last 2-5 years - I tend to put these into anything that I don't plan on hanging onto.
Interstate batteries - I use to buy these, but I stopped 7 years ago cause I found cheaper batteries
Duracell - junk
Exide - Not bad, I put them in my cargo vans

For a 97 pick-up with a 454 - I'd buy a Optima Red Top or Napa Legend
Duracell is the same as Napa Legend Premium BAT983478 in the 34/78 size and other sizes as well I'm sure. East Penn just sticks a different label on it depending on who they are shipping it to. I have a 34/78 Model # 78DTAGM which is Rebranded Deka/Napa Legend/O'reillys super start platinum. Why pay $200 for it from all those places when the same battery with a Duracell label can be had at Sam's club for $129

So far it's been working for me for almost 1.5 years.

I have a kill switch and this car sits in the cold temps right now with the kill switch off and starts right up as soon as I power it on with the voltage reading near full. If the car sits a month, a battery tender plus charges it within 30 minutes as the voltage stays very high due to the kill switch.

I believe Duracell are made by Deka. A guy I work with was at their warehouse and he said there was a guy putting Duracell and Harley Davidson stickers on the Deka batteries.

Deka is East Penn and you are correct. I just rather save the $80 and get one with the duracell sticker on it than the deka sticker.

If only the guy doing the project farm videos didn't get his manufacturers mixed up. The die hard battery in his video below is an "advanced gold" made by East Penn, not Enersys. Johnson Controls made the "Gold" regular starting batteries sold at sears. Good thing he didn't test the NAPA legend premium because it's the same as the die hard advanced gold he tested, which is the same AGM battery as the Duracell that I have. I wouldn't go with the Duracell that I have if you live in cold temps, but for an AGM it certainly outperformed the Optima Red Top. I don't drive my car in cold temps and I want something that charges fast because my car sits, so I went with Duracell. For MS temps and what you are using the battery for, get an everstart from wal-mart if it's the cheapest.

I know everyone has different experiences and opinions.

I have installed more Napa Legend(blue label)batteries than I can count for years.

They always test higher than what they are rated at.
