Optima VS Interstate VS Etc...
Wife corvette had that damned charging system error for a year or better, and that battery fixed it after tweaking the tune settings and two alternators did not fix it.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Napa Legend - I buy these for my daily driver's.
Napa Legend Premium - I buy these for my wreckers.
Napa Commercial Deep Cell - I buy these for my flat beds tow trucks
Optima Red Top - I buy these for my fork lifts
Optima Blue Top - I buy these for my car audio system
Optima Yellow Top - never used one
Autoparts International - These are cheap - last 2-5 years - I tend to put these into anything that I don't plan on hanging onto.
Interstate batteries - I use to buy these, but I stopped 7 years ago cause I found cheaper batteries
Duracell - junk
Exide - Not bad, I put them in my cargo vans
For a 97 pick-up with a 454 - I'd buy a Optima Red Top or Napa Legend
So far it's been working for me for almost 1.5 years.
I have a kill switch and this car sits in the cold temps right now with the kill switch off and starts right up as soon as I power it on with the voltage reading near full. If the car sits a month, a battery tender plus charges it within 30 minutes as the voltage stays very high due to the kill switch.

I have installed more Napa Legend(blue label)batteries than I can count for years.
They always test higher than what they are rated at.

thread getting very interesting.
