98 Fuel Tank Help

98 Fuel Tank Help This weekend I replaced the fuel pump in my 98 Trans Am by dropping the tank.. i had some issue and ended up pulling the pump and replacing it with the tank in the car at a strange angle.
So I start the car and no leaks. I go to fill it up and when the handle clicks I hear a splash and look down and yep gas puddle right dead center of the car. Also fuel gauge still stuck a 1/2 tank?? I drive a few miles home and no leaks while car is idling or just sitting now running. What could it be?
I have 2 big questions. Can I swap from a 98 to 99-02 style tank?? Whats involved. And where do I cut the access hole to see if I dont have my pump gasket sealed right..
