Default E-brake creaks

In the summer of 2019, I had my rear-end rebuilt and also installed new Yukon axles. When I got the car back, I noticed the e-brake didn't work. The story I was told was that they determined one of the old axles was accidentally dropped on the floor during removal while the e-brake stuff was still attached. They offered to perform the labor for free if I bought the rebuild kit. So I bought a Monroe BX784 kit. After they fixed it for free, I still had and continue to have creaking when the car rocks a bit after being parked and pulling up the e-brake handle. I became so frustrated with that shop for numerous issues I never told them about it.

I recently had my rear end leak fixed (they used a paper gasket), but it appears I had the cart before the horse, as I may need to have axles pulled to correct the creaking problem? The last time I had the e-brake formally fixed years ago was by a dealer, and it worked great then (and up until the shop f'ed it up).

The shoe is probably just sticking and not springing back when the lever is released. If you disassemble the brake mechanism, lube it, and re-assemble, (and properly adjust it!) I would expect it to be just fine. (A "mechanic" won't have this procedure unless they take the time to do some homework.)

The e-brake stuff was still attached ? still attached to what ? When the axle is pulled out/removed, the e-brake stuff is still mounted on the end of the rear end tube.

I've never personally messed with it, I took them at their word. I just vaguely remember then saying something like the e-brake was damaged during removal of the axle(s).
