Default passenger side blinker not working

I recently replaced the passenger side light bulb (front). It burned out real bad. It looked like it was in a small fire. Anyways, it works (turns on), but it will not flash when I use my turn signal. The right turn arrow stays solid instead of clicking and flashing. And I did buy the correct dual filament bulb. I bought a turn signal relay from autozone since it's so dirt cheap and I will attempt to change it tomorrow. However, if the relay was at fault, wouldn't the other side flasher not work as well? Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this pain in the ***?

Left and right use the same flasher. Hazards use a separate flasher. Turn on the hazards and see if another bulb on the right is out. Otherwise, the socket for the bulb you just replaced may be damaged and needs to be replaced. there are threads on here explaining two different ways to replace it.

This is common, particularly on the Trans Am's. If it gets to be a problem, you can swap the socket. BEFORE you do, be sure to find the thread that shows you how to do it with out cutting wires or splicing.

Not necessarily. The stock flasher is a thermal unit, which works off of resistance in the circuit. The resistance in the circuitry in the left and right side of the car is slightly different. (Different bulbs, longer wires, corrosion, etc.) The side that is solid just isn't pulling enough electricity to heat up the flasher to make it work.

That's what this site is for. There are threads out there with people who have had the exact same problem. (I have, too.) Just swap the flasher (right side of the dash) and you should be set.

Thanks guys. Greatly appreciate it. I found two threads about it and bought the parts from Moser just in case and to have in the future even if it isn't faulty socket this time. I'll replace the relay first.

Left and right use the same relay so if one side works, then the relay is not the problem.

I've had a borderline thermal flasher work on one side and not the other. It does this just before it gives up the ghost for everything. ... And it will do stuff like this ^ and suddenly work.

2001ws6ft - Take note of the outside temperature. If your stock thermal flasher is getting wonky, I would guess things would get better when its warmer. (Heat, normally caused by the electricity flowing through the circuit, makes the internal element bend and "click" over.)

This was a reoccurring problem for me and I would have to replace the front turn signal bulbs annually. The sockets had damage and had been replaced/spliced previously but worked fine with new bulbs. Sometimes the fairly new turn signal bulbs would be broken inside the housing.

Last year, I went to check my bulbs soon after a car wash since I noticed they stopped working again. I pulled the bulb out of the socket and it turns out it was filled with water. After a closer inspection, both my front signal housing had large cracks in the top that had been letting water in. This is nearly impossible to see unless you remove parts of the headlight assembly OR sometimes you might be able to get a sneak peak by peaking through the body panel gap by the headlight(s) down in that area. I suspect the cracks formed from the socket and bulb connection getting way to hot.. presumably from a moisture getting into the housing via a bad seal on the housing lenses or the socket seal on the housing. Maybe from using the wrong bulb at some point also?... Who knows

Definitely check your signal housing for cracks or moisture after a car was etc.

Did anyone have a problem installing the 269 sockets? I had to alter them using a dremel for fitment. 01 T/A
