Power steering issues

Power steering issues I have a 2001 ls1 camaro have had power steering leak issues along with the whining noise. Been doing some research and I deleted the cooling system from the radiator hose. Installed a new pump and pully now I'm running the hose from the reservoir straight to the rack. Got it all filled up and I am still having the whining noise not as loud but definitely still there. Doesn't seem to be a leak anymore and the fluid doesn't look nasty and foamy. Not sure what to do next. Any help will be appreciated

My buddy's shop replaced my pump with a reman (without asking me) while doing the motor mounts because the original was leaking. The reman leaked much worse than the original.
They put a second reman on and after several months it failed. Finally I decided to have NEW (not reman) Cardone pump installed. It is very whiny, but has not leaked and works flawlessly so I've decided to live with the noise.
Perhaps if yours is working well, you'll be able to learn to live with it also. If not, I'd pony up the big bucks and get a Turn One pump. Otherwise you may end up chasing after one pump with another like I did.

If you purchase a mechanics stethoscope, (they are inexpensive) you can confirm if you reman pump is the source of the whine or if it's coming from the rack. (Sometimes they make noise.)
I'd guess you just got another bad pump, but it's worth the $10 investment to check with the stethoscope.
Also, did you fully flush the fluid? Dirty fluid can also cause a number of problems and should be regularly flushed on our cars.

Leaks can come from the gasket between reservoir and pump, from either of the hoses, or from the pump seals. I had replaced my pump years ago, and the replacement whined a bit. I learned to live with it. When it came time to replace the rack, I bought a rebuild kit for the pump. The pump no longer whines.
leaks...most popular... from hose...2....the O ring on the tank to pump body...3....the front shaft seal...the seal gets hard and wears a line into the shaft like a lathe.....ask me how i know
