I'm a big NGK fan. Shouldn't take 6 hours, but it'll take a good amount of time with those stock manifolds on. I usually go the ***** way and pay a mechanic to change my wires/plugs with my edelbrock shorties.

i run NGK TR55's. i dont have a reason for anything else. i also dont look for power out of my spark plugs. so i see no reason to pay for anything more than a good quality platinum plug. irridiums are fine too if you can stomach the cost. but split fires, bosch +4s, or any of these other plugs that claim to give you power increases i dont care about.

oh as far as doing the plug change. i hope you have a lift to work from. itll make life much easier. if not lube your arm up in something slipery so you can sldie it in between the engine and bay. if you arm is even small enough for that. just dont get stuck.

yeah thatll work good so long as its not terribly narrow. being able to stand under the car makes life easy. laying under it could work, but would not be fun

I did mine when i had my stock manifolds laying on my back......then again i gave up cuz it was REALLY tuff without a lift. My buddy had a 94 Z and he changed his plugs in 6hours, and if u have ever seen the stock routing of the wires...yeah, he didn't change them lol. I changed all mine when i got longtubes, and now they are like a 20 min job, and the wires (i got OVC wires) are real easy to run with longtubes also, just a little info if u ever think of getting headers.

u stick the hose on the end of the spark plug...the hose works like a swivel/extension when u cant reach with ur hand...helps alot...the driver side can be changed from up top...other side go from under its alot easier...and 6 hour job depends on u...it took me about 2 hours the first time and now about 1 hour...of course i think girl scouts have bigger hands than me.

that one i beleive i got from the top but with a swivel and extension...that was a 97 lt1...as for the job taking 6 hours thats pretty funny...but then again im skinny so guess that helps...when i had stock manifolds i jacked the car up and pulled all the driver side from the top except for the number 7 plug which i got from the bottom, and the passenger side i got them form the top i think...as for the wires i had the shop that did my headers swap the wires since they were there...lol...now with my LT's i swap plugs in about 30 minutes (includes jacking and securing the car)..well good luck!

i did mine from the bottom. no laughing but heres how.( note i have dual cats) get oil liquid dish soap. something that will lubricate your arm and stay on there. reach up and squeeze your arm past the manifold. hoook it back around and take the plug out. hey it worked for me. other than that drop the y pipe and try not to break a stud.

The last time I changed plugs on an LS1 Trans Am, I changed them all from the top. 7 took me 30 minutes, the 8th took me 4 hours. I finally was able to clear enough stuff away to just get my hand, and a "shorty" ratchet in there. It certainly wasn't easy. And I'm getting ready to do it again, but this time on a different car - I've been putting it off for a couple months now.
