You'll also need to change the oil pan, now also. I just did the same thing - except I torqued that bolt (by the oil filter) with the transmission still bolted to the oil pan. ...CRACK After I found my error the oil pan still leaked at that corner.

BTW - I just saw SacCity's video and they also have a different tool for re-aligning covers with the seal already installed.
But on the concern, if the cover is overhanging down below pan rail, then the shop screwed up. Whether a tool was used or not, someone screwed up.

How difficult can it be to install a seal into a cover before installing the cover on the engine. Has anyone ever had to machine or purchase a new front or rear cover once it was installed with whatever method or tools used because it didn't line up or wasn't level with the bottom of the block? But on the concern, if the cover is overhanging down below pan rail, then the shop screwed up. Whether a tool was used or not, someone screwed up.
