2000 Firebird Fuel Gauge Issues
My 2000 Firebird is presenting with a DTC P0463 Fuel Sensor High. When starting the vehicle the fuel gauge shows full, then after a few minutes shows empty and sets the check gauges light. I have a scan tool that has some limited functionality but it can do the needle sweep on the fuel gauge and that seems to work fine. Does that rule out the cluster having a fault?
The fuel guage started to fail a few months back and then the fuel pump followed it. I replaced it with a known good used unit.
I am going to scan again and see if I can get a reading on the fuellevelsensor parameter. The gauge either shows full with no falut or empty with fault - nothing in between. My scan tool is a Vident iLink 400 which is not comprehensive, but it also did not cost 2 grand.
I also have a spare PCM that is already matched to this VIN so I may try that as well.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

.
As I mentioned in the OP, I have a spare VIN-matched PCM. In between raindrops today I swapped it in and no change in behavior.
I also have a spare IP cluster now. Does the needle sweep test passing indicate the cluster is good?
This weekend I will get the car in the air and test the wires from the bulkhead to the pump and sender.
I have a new sending unit on order just in case so when I get it apart I can replace it if needed. I went with the $15 Herko option. If I don't end up needing, it goes in the parts stash.
Thanks for the input!
