Looks like it's just a matter of taking off the front pulley and tapping the front housing off of the rear far enough to rotate it. Just have to be careful of the brushes. I'm planning to do mine today.

my mechman alt has the plug on the bottom....thought it was gunna be a problem but it was all good

That's cool. I just yanked the 48237 and clocked it.... simple process. I'll slap it in later.

Success! I installed the alternator and she never dropped off of 14V driving, idling ....full load too. So the 48237 will work nicely in our 4th gen. You just have to clock the back 90 degrees clockwise. Also it's a much larger alternator so it helps to leave the bracket attached with the center bolt - but loose. Also connect the 4 pin excitor and 12v before mounting it. You won't be able to get to the 4 pin connector when it's mounted. I also loosened the sway bar which helped getting the unit out and back in.
