I was at a show today and stopped by the Amsoil vendor tent to see what kind of products they carry these days. This gas additive caught my eye for $10 and I put it in the Trans Am tank for the ride home. Of course the sales guy said it was a wonderful product but I don't have a clue if it's similar to Techron or more like a Lucas Oil gas additive that is less effective. On the other hand, is it perhaps better? Anyone have knowledge of this product? The bottle says use every 4,000 miles. One bottle treats up to 30 gallons. The typical cleans injectors, chambers, etc....
Amsoil makes good products. Good to know about Redline Additive. I've used the Techron since a good friend said it was what they used at the Dodge Dealership he worked at the time. He said that is what they poured in vehicles, shook vehicle for better mixture, drove several blocks, returned, made customer wait hour to charge them hourly rate. I tried it on a vehicle that needed a tune up before trading and it ran like a charm afterwards. Haven't tried anything else but may be inclined to try Redline.
I've never used it but, if you're looking to try something other than Techron, I would recommend Red Line SI-1.
Red Line sounds like a good product but I'll probably just stick with the Techron. I was just curious and tried the Amsoil.
When I owned my C4 I remember other owners swearing by the Techron as it kept the gas gauges working. Techron in the tank really freed it all up.
I have been using "Gumout" fuel system cleaner in Sara (2001 Z28) for over 22 years with no problems or issues, it is also reasonably priced @ $7.87 @ Wallyworld.
The P.I. is used as a additive for every few months. What you'll want to do is use the P.I. first, then use the Amsoil Upper cylinder lubricant once a month.
If you get a PC acct it'll be a lot cheaper.
Many of my small engine accounts will include a bottle of PI after rebuilding their engines.
I am an Amsoil dealer, but when it comes to fuel additives, I will recommend Amsoil, of course, But Lucas of Seafoam are great as well. IMHO, Redline is like Royal Purple. Its a marketing thing with zero proven test results.
No other lubricant company in the world tests their products to the extent of Amsoil. Just ask Gale Banks. If a product is garbage, Gale has no problem calling them out...by name.

Red Line does publish test results. It can be found on their website under "White Papers" for a given product (including SI-1). Not sure what you consider to be "proven" in terms of these results, but I have personally used the product to successfully clean up more than one fuel system over the years.
i am sure the amsoil is a great product.....redline has proven it works to me....and i can get it anywhere instead of just a redline dealer....a plus in my book
It appears that Amosil is similar to Seafoam and that naphtha is a main ingredient (paint thinner). It’s a little bit weak sauce. When you’re looking for fuel system cleaners look at the SDS for something that contains polyetheramine or PEA. https://www.worldsbestoil.ca/amsoil-msds/api.pdf

So I just looked up the SDS for Red Line SI-1...main ingredient is very similar to Amsoil, and Red Line does include PEA. So if Red Line is nothing more than a marketing thing, then Amsoil isn't any better.
I haven't seen amsoil let us know how it does. I would like to try it in my wifes Jeep if it works well.
OK, I will. Probably won't notice a thing to be honest with you. I just do it for annual maintenance. I never noticed anything with the Techron either. My cars all run very well.
I used to be on the Amsoil bandwagon, but have since gotten off and not looked back. The products are good, but they are overpriced and comparable products can be purchased at your normal retail stores for cheaper. Plus, the fanbois constantly propping Amsoil up as God's gift to the automotive world is exhausting.
As for their fuel cleaner, it works, but I just get Techron every so often when it is on sale. And by that, I mean I use it once every 5 years or so.

If you are putting good gas in them you probably wont. I run 93 in my Ecoboost Flex its got 21k on it and you would never know its not brand new. The Z needs a fuel system clean up. I run 93 in it. The wifes jeep I just put 87 in it and you can feel it. Its got 29k on it now. It needs a clean out and I need to just start running 93 in it as well.

They say the PEA is where the magic happens. It can withstand higher temps than the other chemicals so it doesn’t get burned up before it has a chance to clean.
