Rack and pinion suggestions
I have just replaced all the rubber under the car and now I am moving on to the rack. I looked around at a few places and I don't recognize any of these names. Yea, I've been out of the game for a long time. Looking for suggestions on a rack either reman or new.
Turn One is charging $375 for a rebuild. Might be a good choice comparing to the costs I see for new
- Rockauto has some but its confusing. BBB reman for w/ Ride & Handling Suspension (FE2, FE4, FE7) or w/ Firm Ride Suspension (F41), dunno which one or if even BBB is worth buying. I'll have to check my build sheet for the ride package.
- Cardone 22185 reman
rest are out of stock
- Hawks or Sam has the Detroit version, pricey but don't care really since I'm doing it myself
Suggestions?
Car is a 2000SS with the straino springs (lowered)

This should answer many of your questions: https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...ck-pinion.html
I'm a fan of TurnOne and the concept of keeping a known good core in a "keeper" car vs. brining in an aftermarket core or a core from a car that has potentially been abused or sitting in a junk yard for a decade.

I know what you mean. I could have just replaced the LCA's and saved a lot of time but I removed them, had them powder coated and rebuilt them myself. This car has 55K on it so the rack is in great shape but leaks badly as usual. I would take on the task of rebuilding it but I have to draw the line somewhere on the projects I have. I bought the bolt m12x1.75x65mm flange head ahead of time so the job should be relatively quick.
I think I am going the Detroit fast ratio rack. Seems that might be a step up plus they are in stock. But...I am still thinking about turn one. Decisions, Decisions

I wouldn't waste my time with anything but TurnOne or DSE. DSE had some trouble with packing and shipping racks, hopefully that is worked out. DSE is in most opinions a highly regarded manufacturer, and for good reason. TurnOne also has a sterling reputation on this board, for good reason.
Cardone, and most of the other I have tried, all developed leaks.

My '00 WS6 (that I bought new) had the same rack as my three Z28s.
