I removed the lower panel ....drivers side...that has the hood release.....as soon as I took it out this spring fell to the floor.....went to the dealer to look on his part diagrams.....thought this spring was on the clutch or the accelerator pedal ....kinda looks like accelerator....but that spring is part of the whole assembly and my Acc pedal does seem to have a spring....I cant contort my body enough to get a look behind the pedal .....any input from mystery solvers ?

My guess was clutch spring but probably not if there is currently a spring on the clutch pedal.

Clutch Pedal Return Spring for a Fbody. It's broke on the other side of it you can see it in the pic, why you found it where you did. The other part is in there somewhere.

Google does. Why it seems to have plenty of "spring back" is because of the Master Cylinder and the Hydraulics.. kind of one of those how things work.

Well... look at that.......

Plot twist: you wouldn't know it was broken unless you found it. Car drives exactly the same.
