Definitely not 5w30 Royal Purple! I just got back an oil analysis on the new SL formula Royal Purple 5w30, for a 2600 mile run in my wife's 2000 Civic, and the oil thinned out considerably! It went from a mid 30wt (11.4cst at 100c) to a high 20wt (8.8cst). Her engine does not have a tendancy to thin out oil, as her 5k run with Mobil 1 last year showed no thinning at all. My sister has the same car and her last oil analysis showed no thinning of Mobil 1 5w30 at all in 8k.

I have serious doubts about recommending Royal Purple to anyone after my sucky results with them.

I have used Redline products for over 12 years and have had nothing but excellent results. A little pricey but you consider the price of a new engine well worth the money.

Unfortunately up here in Canada the lowest price I can find on it is $15 a quart, so it's double the cost of Mobil 1, and too far out of my price range. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
