starting problem, location of fuel filter?

starting problem,location of fuel filter

Whenever I go to start my car, it normally takes a good 6 seconds on the starter to get her to go, i was told that this mean I need a new fuel filter, so I bought one, but I have no idea where the original is, I've looked on top of the engine and beneath it, and my chilton book I bought doesnt even mention or show it in any picture or procedure, could anyone tell me where to find it?
