Question Window Motor

I BOUGHT MY TA A WEEK AGO. IT A 2001 WITH 17,700. I NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW WAS SLOW WHENEVER I ROLLED IT UP. THEN WHEN I LET IT GO DOWN BY ITSELF (AUTO) I HEARD A FUNNY POP NOISE. I TRIED TO ROLL THE WINDOW BACK UP AND IT MAKES A FUNNY GRINDING NOISE BUT THE WINDOW WONT GO UP, YOU HAVE TO PULL IT UP!! I BOUGHT NEW SWITCHES AND REPLACED THEM (IT NOT THAT). CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT IS THE MOTOR, OR WHAT??? THANKS, JESSICA

Its probably the window motor. Either its gone bad or its gear is not properly meshed up with the regulator.

Here is a thread where I posted some write-ups:

Its also possible that the spring has slipped. Here is a thread about that:

I went to autozone, got the motor, went home, took the door panel off, and it turns out that my motor is still good. The reason why is wouldnt go up was because the rivets that hold the motor through some holes were broken off. So I replaced the rivets and it works. Im glad it wasnt the motor so i can take that back.

Also watch the rivits that hold the metal bracket (What the motor bolts to) to the door. You'll see them move as the window reaches the top or bottom of its travel. The door is fiberglass and the holes that the large rivits go through have worn and slightly enlarged which allows for the movement. If there is a good way to fix this, I'd like to know. Its a bit cold and wet right now for me to work on it so I'll just wait until the spring....or the next time it fails.
