Question Air Bags

I had a 94 Z that was involved in an accident and the air bags deployed i since then bought a 96 Z shell with undeployed air bags and moved all of the equipment (motor, trans and wiring harness) into the 96. I am reusing my old air bag sensors but my air bag light stays on all of the time. Will the 94 air bag sensors work with 96 air bags? I have been talking to fbodysalvage (Thanks again for all of your help) because i thought that i need to get some undeployed sensors but i read that you don’t have to with our cars. Also which one do i have a derm or sdm? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your SDM (Supplemental Deployment Module) is either A) Bad or B) Triggered one of two times. Sometimes a Tech I can reset it, sometimes you have to find an unmolested one and swap it out. I believe that on the F-body its in the center console behind the shift boot. All SDM's are a stand alone year everytime too. IE: The SDM HAS to be from another 1994, a 1993 or a 1995 won't work.

you should see numerous yellow asteners be under the middle console behind the shifter like mentioned above.

Its a little silver box, about 2 inches tall, and maybe 3 x 4 inches wide and long. It'll have a big assed yellow connector coming out of it.

Chances are good that it has a deployment sensor problem. The best thing is to find someone with a scanner and see what dtc is stored. Then you will know exactly what direction to go in.
