Should I be worried?
I have a 2002 Z28 6-speed with 29,000 miles on it.I changed the oil today and noticed a small amount of metal on the drain plug.I wiped the end of the plug on my black work gloves I was wearing and it almost looked like I drew on them with a silver crayon. Is this normal?

99Zeod and Shutout, maybe you should get an oil analysis done. From what I've read an oil analysis will tell you what is happening internally before any serious damage is done. The kits are free I believe and it costs something like $20 bucks, I forget the web site though.

That is normal wear-n-tear debris. The magnetic drain plug is supposed to attract that fine dust. It's big pieces & needle bearings you need to worry about. Or if you had a 1/4" layer....

I noticed the same thing as well when I changed my oil a couple weeks ago. I've owned the car for the last 20,000 miles and had never wiped the end of the oil plug until this last time. There was a small amount of that silver-looking gunk on the end of the plug... just barely covered the tip of it but smeared pretty well when I rubbed it between my fingers I wasn't too worried about it.

Yup, that's exactly what it reminded me of. Has the same texture and everything.
