Default My key/ignition keyhole is getting tough

I have no problem starting my car, but the key/keyhole doesnt do what its suppose to, it doesnt "unlock" when i turn the car off, i have to twist the key back further and then pull it out while i hold it in posistion, like i said i have no problem starting it, and i can live with it, its been like this for about 20k now, but i just dont want it to keep my key and leave me stranded some day, any input? thanks

A shot of WD-40? A new lock cylinder from GM?- $50 plus labor.

the key should come with the tumbler, but it may need to be re key'd if your ignition is coded.

Looks like the 97-02 ignition cylinder part number is 26033387 for MM6 (manual 6-speed) and M49 (manual 5-speed), or 26033390 for M30 (automatic 4-speed). GM list price is about $60. SDPC (a sponsor) has them for about $43, and there are some places where they're even cheaper.
