To the top, I want to know if anyone can get this oil specifically. I went to 4 autozones, got one quart at one store then 17 quarts at another (left 2 quarts there). The other 2 had none, I called 2 more autozones they only had the domestic stuff.(Yellow label) The german castrol has a red label where it reads 0w30. I'll probably stop by those two to check for myself. I went by advance for NGK's (they were out) but no GC there. None at Oreilly's (where I got the plugs), and I glanced at wal-mart for ****'s and giggles (none there). I hope we can find a reliable source for this.

BTW, do most of you guys' cars use 5 qts per change or 5.5 qts? I bought 18 qts for 3 oil changes just in case.

I think I own the only 3qts in St. Louis. I'm glad i'm not the only one driving to mutliple autozones. autozone 1 I saw it sitting on the shelf, started loading the basket and then the lable changed, us made figured no problem, on to the next zone, Nope! and the 3rd, nope!

I give up, any place I can order it online for a decent price?

Some of the autozones had RED lable US mfg. stuff in addition to yellow, be carefull.

I run 6qts per change + consumption. My guess is you need 6.5 bottles per cycle.

I checked the back of every quart I purchased to make sure. I'm probably going to run by those other two 'zones today and check that other one to see if those 2 quarts are left. I thought our cars took 5 quarts standard but some guys add the extra .5 to get it to the "full line". I wouldn't have thought to put in 6 full quarts.

Actually, be CARELESS!!! That red label US made stuff is most likely the newest US castrol which is made to the same specs as the german stuff. Its supposedly every bit as good. Its the same funky green color as the german stuff, and it carries the same or similar seals of approval on the back. If you can find this stuff, but it. Its the good stuff. The one to avoid is the yellow label stuff.

Patman has said all US mfg. syntec is a blend, not true synthetic.

Think I'll email castroil. Although I doubt that'll get me very far.

A good commonly available alternative would be Mobil 1 0w40.

The closest thing I can get in NY is 5w40 from Belgum, I will keep a look out at some other stores and talk to a castrol guy I know.

The Beligian made 5w40 is good oil too. Not that easy to find though.

I went to the Autozone website and sent a complaint e-mail..Here was teh response..Castrol 0W30 has been removed form all 15-foot oil walls. The 20-foot oil walls will continue to carry it. If we recieve enough requests... (hmmmm) we will return it to the 15-foot stores as well. Thats www.autozone.com folks.

I went by those other 2 autozones. One had none, the other had 6 qts. I had to look behind about 5 qts of yellow label to find the 6 german. I went back to the store where I got 17 qts from to pick up the two I left there. Well they must have been holding out, they had the two I left plus 30 more qts! (20 on the shelf and 2 cases) I picked up 24 more qts from them. The manager who rang me up said (with a smirk), "You know, just because it says made in Germany doesnt mean that it's made in Germany. It means the crude comes from Germany but it's still refined in New Jersey. I just smile and My total is up to 48 qts.

I only have one more $20+ purchase before I get my free $20 autozone gift card.(their new rewards program, 5 $20+ purchases gets the card) I'll buy two more K&N oil filters to cover it (I only have one so far but enough oil for 8 changes) then use the giftcard towards more K&N's or some Fram air filters.(I'm changing my air filter with every oil change since I did FRA and they aren't expensive) I left 8 qts of German on the shelf, maybe I'll pick up six more later, maybe not. If I go back a while from now and they have a bunch more maybe I'll pick up 18 more, who knows. I know I'm covered for my next 50k miles.

-EDIT- BTW, I know your probably thinking, 48 qts @ about $5.30 each, that's major cash to dump!! Buuuuuuut, every one of those 48 qts was only $3.99. Must be on sale.
