Default Car Hard Starting

Ok Here Lately My Car Has Been Really Really Hard To Start. You Can Sit There And Turn It Over And It Takes Forever Before It Actually Fires. But After Its Been Started It Will Start Right Up If You Turn It Off Then Start It Again. I Have A New Coil And Wires On It With New Spark Plugs. Does Anyone Know What This Would Be??? And Also, I Get Bad Gas Mileage Compared To Other Lt1's. Like Around 25 On Highway And 12-13 In Town. What Could Be Causing This??? Thanks

I changed my fuel pressure regulator a while back, fixed it right up. Try that, it's a relatively cheap part too.

First, listen if the fuel pump cycles when you turn the key to on position. Your primer realy might be bad. You should hear the pump buzz for 2 sec. then shut off to prime the system. If it works, then move to the regulator. the diaphram is probably bad.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and put on it when its cold and hot and check the pressure. The regulator is a problem spot for these engines but you could also have and injector leaking and bleeding the pressure off too. If you pull the vaccum line off of the press regulator and look for fuel in it. That is usually a dead giveaway to a regulator being ruptured. I had an ls1 of a friends kick my *** at the shop. I could only get to work on it as he had time and every time I got to it the motor was stone cold. It turn out it had a couple injectors that leaked only when the engine was hot. But, you had to drive it for a couple of hours to get'em hot enough to leak after shutdown. It sounds as though you have spent a fairly hefty chunk on other parts. Autozone has a tool rental program and they rent gauges for about 15-25$ a day. It can save you a lot of time and headaches chasing problems like yours. It should have 48-55 psi running and about 55-62 when the pump first pressure's up and after the pump shuts off it will stabilize anywhere from 42-55 depending on the integrity of the fuel pump.

The Pump Turns On And Then After A Few Seconds Shuts Off, So I Dont Think That Is The Problem. I Will Check The Pressure And See If It Is The Regulator. I Planned On Getting A Adj Fuel Regulator Anyways Because Of The Nitrous But I Heard That It Wont Make A Difference Because The Computer Controls All Of That. Should I Get An Aftermarket One Or Just Get A Stock Replacement????
