Default help a noob with some issues

im 95% sure this is what the problem is:

when i shut of the car, coolant flows what looks like below the waterpump - am i correct in assuming this is a faulty water pump?

also, someone told me that the optispark ignition get screwed up because of a faulty water pump, but this site:
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Re...1&src=vip#Engi

states that it has to do with the EGR passages.

anyone had any experience with this? any help would be appreciated

Doesnt state that, states the two trouble spots are the EGR and Opti spark, not in relation with each other. Neither will cause the others demise just saying those are two trouble spots with the engine. A water pump leaking water or in my case dumping coolant out will kill the opti like non other. Your problem could very well be the water pump, could also be some thing like a hose clamp comming off under pressue.

my bearing was out of the back of the waterpump. it would not leak when cold or hot running but when hot when you shut it off. it would start leaking

Before replacing anything, first get it to leak and make sure that it is the water pump, which is a common problem on any car. After you find the location of the leak you need to replace it before it kills your opti-spark if it hasn't already.

Correct, on the vented optis a little water wont kill it.

Your pump is more than likely leaking out of the weep hole and you do need a new pump.

my friend gives his entire engine (including the front where the beast hides) power wash at least twice a year. The opti get's wet and clean everytime. As long as you have a vented opti and the vacuum harness is working properly, a little watter isn't going to kill it. However better safe than sorry

If you can afford it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the opti while you're in there replacing the Water pump. It's bound to go bad eventually. Might as well get the PITA job done in one shot instead of ripping the front of the motor off twice. The coolant is most likely coming from the weep hole in the bottome of the WP. That's what happened on mine, which led to it's replacement. And the reason I say replace the opti while you're in there....well, I didn't...and 2 months later, I had to tear all that **** off again to replace the opti!
