Hey guys mi AC Delco stockie just died.. just like that..

I went to a change oil, they lifted the car, changed it.. all right.

first start.. Dead.. they got another battery, hooked up with cables and Fired the car up.

The car ran good for 2 days.. left in garage for 3 days.. no crank..

just the cluster goes crazy.. no power even to unlock the doors..

So i bought a Red Top.

Is there anything i should have in mind while changing the batts so i dont **** up any electronics?

Dont lean your body on the fender then be close enough to the battery that you touch it and get a nice shock... yea....

Make sure you connect the cables to the correct terminal.
Secure the battery properly so that it can't slide around.
Know your radio unlock code.

Also sounds like your alternator might be going. I would get someone to test it just to be safe so you don't drain out the red top. Autozone and checkers can do that for free.

thats what scares me.. there is no autozone/checkers around here.. how do they test alternators?

maybe they can check the car at work place, they have all that electronic instruments to check voltage and that stuff..

Bypass code? What is that, exactly? I'm just referring to whatever you have to know to put into the radio so that the darn thing will work after power to it has been disconnected. The first time I disconnected my battery I didn't know the code for the radio and it was weeks before I found somebody who could get the code for me for free. It's an odd process. Dealer wanted money to do it. Damn stealurshits, lol.

any auto shop has some sort of electrical testing equipment, if they dont, id suggest never going to them for anything

My local chevy dealer told me that my slp fan switch went bad and was creating a constant drain on the battery. Said they disconnected it, charged the battery and it was fine. Couple days later my car died. Took it to autozone and they told me the obvious. Battery was completely shot. Got a new battery and hooked the fan switch back in, hasn't died since and it's been MORE than a year. stealurshits often suck.

my alternator died in my saturn (daily driver) and took the battery with it. the battery was fairly new and only cost like 11$ for the pro-rated charge.

when they "test one", they hook the battery terminals up to a machine, tell you to bring it to 2k rpms, then they put a load on the system. then they see how the alternator reacts.

if you do get a wild hair and decide to pull the alternator, beware of the exciter wire!

the exciter wire is a TINY *** red wire in a weather tight connector that plugs into the top of the alternator. when you look down to the alternator from on top of the motor, it will be pointing at the ground. if you unbolt the alternator and let it come down some, it will rip that wire out and you will have to take the connector apart and re-build it. no big deal, but its easier if avoided

and yes if 2 batteries die, its probably not the batteriest that are giving you problems

stealurshits, which rhymes with dealerships, often suck. I posted that sotry because you said "any auto shop has some sort of electrical testing equipment, if they dont, id suggest never going to them for anything"
I suggest never going to a dealer for anything unless you KNOW that they are good.

lol, not exactly. I could argue that they stole my money because they didn't solve the problem but still charged me.
