I've had the OE (Nippon-denso?) for over 70,000 miles. The OEs are platinum. What platinum plugs do you guys use when the OEs quit? I'm not interested in changing plug @ even 20,000 miles!

I run Denso spark plugs, I like 'em pretty good overall package or durability and performance, sept they 6 dollars a piece for the cheapys and about 13 each for the good stuff.

if you dont feel like dealing with it... you cant go wrong when using new factory plugs and wires, they actually arent that bad.

i was under the impression that every 100 or so hp over stock you should be running a colder plug? i couldnt find any tr6s so i got some denso equiv. at lee auto. i may go back to a NGK now. i had 55s before. should i go back to 55s, or stay with a 6 heat range? im NA.

What you're saying does make sence. More power=more heat. I've used both sets back when I only about 25HP in mods, and it ran great with either set.

NGK tr-55 (gapped .050-.055) for stock - cam only some head/cam. I'd run tr-6's (gapped .040-.045) for any FI and high compression N/A as well.

Kind of an old thread, but am I the only one who is unhappy with their NGK tr55's? When I switched to them from my ac delco's I had KR at WOT appear out of no where and they give off more of a rich smell at idle. I'm ready to pull them and find a replacement. Not sure what yet. Def. not brisk, way out of the price range.

OK, I bought and installed the "Denso"s last week end and the car runs great! But it did anyway. It feels a little stronger though.
Now my hands and forearms look like I was in a cat fight! I have relatively small hands and forearms and had a tough time getting in there4 to loosen the back bolt on the coil bracket on the passenger side and, of course, #8 was nasty! I do not see how anyone with big hands and arms could even get their hands in there. #8 would NOT turn freely all the way out so it was one click at a time on the ratchet.
Knowing what a hassle #8 was going to be, I did it first! I'm glad I didn't save it for last! Did the driver's side the next day, piece-o-cake!

Are the NGK TR 55 Platinum?

I have Iridiums in the car now and I think I fouled them out.

What do you guys think of Iridium plugs?

Noticed some good posts on this thread. I just bought my T/A and changed the original plugs that were at .100 over to Bosch Platinums. Now I have allways gone with Bosch just because I have allways used the Bosch platinums on my Porsche 944 turbo and I was making around 15 psi boost which wasnt bad for stock injectors and wastegate.

So considering that I am completely stock right now... is Bosch a good choice for my Trans Am?

I just had to add in that Smilies...

I LOVE my 30th Ann. TA and my Bosch Platinum +4's and they are in the daily driver and F-150 too. Never had any issues and both cars always start in a fraction of a second and and I have never pulled any KR with my car even up to 29.5 degrees of timing. But I am glad I came in here and found out about the Brisk plugs as that looks to be a killer design. Why would they cause KR though?
