Oil pressure problem
Oil pressure problem I recently started having a problem with my LT1. If I'm going down the road, I'm fine. The oil pressure needle is between the 0 and halfway mark. When I get to a stoplight, it falls right near the red, and sometimes even on the red. My check gauges light then comes on. I usually put it in neutral and give it a little gas, and it solves the problem.
I've checked my oil and I'm full. Other variables may be my valve guide seals that I need to change, since I produce some blue smoke time to time. My question is, do you think my gauge or sensor is just bad, or is something else wrong? Should I be running this car on the road?

well an easy way to check is to get an actual oil pressure gauge....not the one in the car and hook it up just to see. that will be the telltale sign. if you are not losing any oil and car isnt running really rough, it sounds ok to me...but you need to make sure. you're pickup might be clogged/broken or the sensore might be tripping out. so just check it and get back to us.
When my gauge gets down to red or close to it. . .my car doesn't really run "ruff", it just feels more shakey. It might be my imagination though. This usually happens after I drive the car on the interstate for a good 20 minutes.
my guage does that too but not nearly as drastically, it drops very little but when I rev the engine the needle goes up, haven't checked to see a cause, I just monitor my oil level frequently and it is always good, keep us posted on what you find.

yeah i have that same problem i am gonna do an oil change 4 quarts mobil 1 5m 30 and some lucas oil stabilizer to it is said increase oil pressure to prolong the rebuild something like the oil is thicker when cold and once its hot it thins so im trying the lucas to thicken my oil i guess is what a mechanic told me and ill to see what happens
