Strange noise???
Strange noise??? 2000 Z28/A4. I have a strange high-pitched whine/noise coming from the middle-front of the car(drvier to cowl area). It increases in pitch with rpm and does not disappear when the car is at idle, in neutral, or in park. It sounds as though it's coming from the dash area, but it's hard to be sure. It occurrs with the radio turned on or off, and with the AC turned on or off. It just started within the last day or two. I have no clue what's causing this, any help would be much appreciated.

Well, I took it in to the Chevy dealer and they said that the battery cables were not tight enough and that was causing feedback/whining to go through the alternator and AC unit. Charged me $100 bucks to tighten the bolts...ok, fine, problem solved...well now about 2 weeks later the whine was back(2 of 3 times driving the car today.
I still need help on what could be causing this...bad grounds? battery cables shot(they did have alot of batt. acid on them from the last battery? AC problem? Alternator? Transmission?
Any help is much appreciated, I don't want to take it back to the dealer until I have a clearer idea what is going on...to damn expensive for nothing

30,500. It does largely go away when I'm off the gas, but builds in sound with revs otherwise...including in park and neutral. It doesn't happen every time I drive the car, but when it does happen it continues the entire time the car is on.

Would I be getting feedback from the radio when it's not turned on? This noise occurse with the stereo on or off, no diffenece in feedback level in either on or off position...and why would it be intermittent?
