Ohh it Burns; The Arcing!!!
Ohh it Burns; The Arcing!!!!!!!!!! Well I got bored tonight, so I did the under the hood check for arcing test. I only got to closely look at a couple but I noticed the rear plug wire on the driver's side is arching, and I'm getting this strange blueish/purpleish glow coming from this less than 1 wk old MSD coil I purchased brand new. Before I go into extensive measures, w/ headers (I have a b-body so to be specific they're Try-ys) do I need those protective metal boots that go over the plug wires? That's what it's arching on on the rear.
Plugs have less than 2,000 miles on them, opti is original w/ a new cap and rotor 70,000 miles ago, and plug wires have 70,000mi on them too, (OEM)
Is there something wrong w/ my coil to be emmitting this glow around the coil frame??

hmm the plugs are brand spanking new. They only have 1500 miles on them. I guess I'll have to remove some of the arcing ones to see if they're cracked. I removed the heat boots tonight, and the one is arcing as much, but I still do see some even after applying dielectric grease inside the boots and installing the original coil. I wonder if the stock plug wires are about on their ends? I didn't notice any arcing on the pass side though..
