Rule out the simple first. I thought my rear end was going for a while until I found a set of huge screws on the inside of one of my rear tires that I never would have seen at a quick glance. They were in so tight they never lost air so I never checked. Then I saw them when I jacked up my car ready to drain the differential.

Not all that familiar with Chevys (mine is an LS1/ RX7). Does your rear end have CV joints? They will definitly make that sound when they are going bad.

More important what kind of rear end do you have? Is it after-market or is it stock? That prolly help some people.

But i don't know much but like these people said check the simple stuff first and work your way in :-)
