The older formula was green colored (made in the years '02, '03, & '04). I believe I heard there were even some bottles of the green formula with M05 on them...

But the new stuff from 2005 going forward is a goldish colored formula that so far appears to be testing out just as good as the green kind last I heard...There were questions about the change when it first happened a few months ago, but the German made Castrol 0w30 is still as quality as it was before

Like I said, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and read all about the GCS (including about the newer formula) as you'll get all the answers you could ever wish for, LOL.

What does everyone think about running M1 5w-40 Truck and SUV Oil? Isn't there a reason it says Truck and SUV Oil?

It is also a good choice here and is actually close to being the synthetic diesel oil Mobil sells. Diesels are MUCH harder on oil than gas engines so they are naturally a bit higher grade.
The Truck and SUV thing is marketting, it is fine for cars that like that weight oil.

I found myself in a very engaging conversation with a gentleman last week that manufactures oil for the government as well as for civilian markets. He explained that 5w-30 grade is derived from 'cutting' 10-30 with a solvent. There is NO 5w grade or 0w grade stock. Of course, solvent does absolutely nothing for lubricity (well, almost nothing)

It is 10-30 in my two vettes.

Hard to argue with wear metal content in used oil. We have no better way to measure how well an oil works under actual use. Think of it as a dyno or track times for oil, it is actual proof as opposed to seat of the pants it is faster talk. The 0W-30 GC is putting up some amazing numbers I don't know how they get 0W and frankly don't care as it is the results that matter.

Did you know they make metal by melting rocks I don't want any rocks in my engine . See my point?
