Broken Headlight motor?

My drivers side headlight will come up when I turn the lights on and then immediately go back down, not all the way though. So I have my passenger headlight all the way up and the drivers side up about 1/4 the way. When I turn the lights off, the drivers side headlight goes all the way up and then back down, while the passenger side just goes down normally. Do I have a bad motor. If so, where can I buy a new one...dealership?? How much do they run, or can I just fix it another way.

So is it a stripped gear or the motor?

Does the motor "whirr" after the light is done moving? If so, its the gear, if the motor doesn't turn at all, its the motor (or the connections to the motor)

I really don't hear any noises from it, just some clunking noises when its' trying to go up but immediately goes back down.

Are you sure your headlight is not touching your hood sometimes i have that problem and its because the become a little loose check and make sure its not hitting anything, if it is just align the headlight or the hood
