Default spark plug wires

Do I need to hear 2 clicks when pushing on the top of the spark plug wire, or 2 clicks for the part of the wire that goes over the spark plug? Basically what I am saying is to know that the spark plug wire is on properly is it 2 clicks on the top end and one click on the end over the plug?

Thanks

Doug

depending on wire I would think.
My taylor wires snapped twice on the top, and once on the bottom.

I went ahead and put the drivers side wires back on and they only snaped once on each side, but its not shuddering now, might be the fix

thanks

The top part (coil pack) should click TWICE.

Alright I will give that a try, would not having it snap twice for the coil pack result in the car shuddering? Cause thats what I am getting again.

Thanks

It might cause shuddering with the wire is loose yes, I changed my plugs about a week ago because my car started doing the same thing out of the blue, when I got to the number 8 plug, I found the the wire was hardly on the plug and when I touched it, it fell off. So that was my problem, the good news is when I changed that number 8 plug, I found that it was the original plug from the factory (80k miles later) and the gap was almost 85 thousanths!!! It really wasn't a hard plug to change either, compaired to LT1's atleast...

So all in all yeah the plug wires can have a big effect on the driving, do you have aftermarket wires of stockers? Are they new/used? They all go on differently, the MSD's seem hard to me, I always have to take them off again and put them back on to make sure they are clicked(plug side), but they seem to be fine on the coil side. Good luck solving the problem.

The update now is I took off all the wires and tighten the plugs a little bit extra just in case and then made sure all the wires were on good. It still shudders! I am almost out of options, the only thing left I can think of is my 8th plug on the end opposite of where the spark is, you know its flat circular and gets wider (bigger diameter) as you get towards the center of the plug, well anyhow that part of the spark plug is loose (not the plug being loose in the block) so I tighten up by hand. Could this be the problem? Should I just go buy a new plug for #8? Also I was told to get my (stock) wires tested at Autozone or some place, but they seem to look good with only 46,000 miles on the clock. Any advice?

Definately throw a new plug on there. Cheap and [relatively] easy.

Alright I put a brand new plug in and drove it around and still get a shudder or jerk. And actually a little while ago it sounded like it back fired. What else can I check or do?

Have you gotten and S.E.S. lights throughout this? There is always the posibility that there is something worse, but given that you said you felt a difference after working with the wires, my next thing to suggest is run a set of new factory wires if you arent already, or you can test your wires, you'd have to search for how because I dont remember what to look for (using an ohm meter), but if you dont want to test them than like I said, try puting on a set of factory(non-aftermarket) wires and see if that helps.

Yeah I was thinking about buying new ones ,but I only have 46,000 miles on them and they seem to look ok. A friend thought the timing might need adjusting, it sounds funny because before the plug change it never jerked. Spark plug wires are they only bought at dealers?

Thanks

What kind of plugs are you using and what did you set the gap too?
