Default Bad gas mileage linked to error code P0157?

I looked up P0157 and it says low circuit bank 2 sensor 2 that is the o2 sensor and that means that it is toast correct? Well i replaced it (the one closest to the rear of the car on the passenger side) and it still appears that i am getting bad gas mileage. It hasn't changed since before the SES light. So what else could it be? Does the computer need to be flashed or something in order to recognized there is a new O2 sensor in there? Just trying to figure this out w/o spending a ton of money. I may buy the new autotap which is 179.00, i have the old one but my laptop does not have the correct port for it to work and apparently they no longer support this version and i am stuck with it. I have a MAF translator aswell so if i am say running rich i can use the MAFT to change that correct? Thanks.

The SES light was cleared when my friend hooked up his scan tool to see what was wrong in the first place, i have not gotten a code since i put the new 02 in. Does the computer need to be reset or something for it to know there is a new 02? I consider bad gas mileage going from half a tank to a quarter after traveling less than 10 miles at normal speed, not WOT or high reving.

If you're losing that much gas I would look for a gas leak first before anything else.

No gas anywhere on the ground or while driving.
