Oil Level and Gauge

I changed my oil the other day and I usually stop before putting 5.5 quarts of oil in...but this time I think I put the full 5.5. I checked the dipstick and it's hard to tell if the oil is above the max level. But the gauge on the dash reads about 45-50 idle and about 60 when I step on it. I don't remember it going that high before. Is that normal or do I have too much oil in the engine?

SOunds about right, does it still go that high after the car has gotten pretty hot, (like driven 25 miles or so?) The LS1 calls for 5.5 qts. if you put that, it cant be too much.

same here......got a ported pump and she runs like that all day long...even when shes at 220 degrees...oouch!!!!

When the engine is warm and I step on it hard...it'll go a little past 60psi and idles around 45 psi.

Yesterday I started it up after being in the sun for a few hours and it hesitated to start. I never heard that before (other than in -10 degrees below during the winter), but I use mobil 1. I don't know if it's related to the oil level.
