Hesitant to start sometimes...
It's not a daily driver... mainly I drive it on the weekends, and on Fridays to work. The rest of the time it's in the garage.
I've noticed that if I don't fire it up until the weekend, it won't want to start at all... like the battery is dead (ticking noise). You can tell the car *wants* to turn though. Eventually, it'll turn... and fire right up.
So I've been getting into the habit of firing it up every other day or so and letting it idle for 5 minutes or so, then shutting it off. Today my wife went to use the Z, and she said it started up fine, but was a little "sluggish" starting up when she first turned the key. Again, after it was running it was fine.
Battery seems to be getting a great charge, so I know it's not the alternator. I doubt it's the starter because once the cars been running, it fires right up as it shoud. It's only when it sits for a few days at a time.
It sound to me like maybe the battery is going?
Does anybody else who keeps their car garage kept during the weekdays have this problem, too?
Trickle charger, eh? I may have to look into getting one of those.
I know for certain that there are no constant bulbs on... already checked that. I think it's probably be the factory alarm that could be draining it, and it's finally taken it's toll on the battery.
Yep...
Went to our new Advance Auto in town and got my battery tested. On the first test it dipped into the low 7 volt range, then on the recharge test it jumped back up to 13 volts, but didn't keep it long.
On the second test, it dipped into the low 7 volt range again, only this time on the recharge test it only jumped up to the 10 volt range.
The battery tester said the battery failed after the 2nd test... so it looks I'll be shopping for a new battery this weekend.
Thanks for the help, fellas!
