Default Fluids

This weekend im going to put new fluids in my car. since the weekend is so near I want to be able to pick this up at any auto store. Im going to do oil and radiator along with a brake bleed. what other fluids should I switch out and what brand.

so heres a list

radiator flush
Brake bleed
oil change

What other things should I do? tranny? dif? what types of fluids do i need? Like for the dif should I get gear oil?

If you have an automatic trans pick up a filter and gasket for that along with 6qts of dexron III fluid, i would recomend 85-90 synthetic gear oil for the rear end, you will need 3 qts. they make a little fluid pump to make putting the gear oil in easy also(should be able to find at any parts store by the gear oil) also the gasket for the diff cover.

gear oil is what you need for the rear diff... if you have a stock 10 bolt with a Zexel/Torsen rear diff, you'll want to use a good synthetic gear oil. I'm an Amsoil dealer, and the one I usually recommend is the Amsoil Long Life gear fluid, for those who mostly just daily drive and don't do a lot of racing... for racing, I recommend the Amsoil Severe Service rear diff fluid.

98s have Auburn LSs and require NON-synthetic (that's what the Auburn people told me) 80w-90 w/4oz of LS friction modifier. 2 quarts of gear lube will give you some left over. Don't forget the gasket.

I've heard that said, but I haven't actually seen the tech paper. Somebody else would have to confirm. Then, the 99s and up used a different kind (Torsen?).

You could probably find something on it in a search.

3 qts? Do you plan on making a mess?

Stock fluid capacity is 1.6 quarts.
