AC Help Alright guys im having a problem i have a 99 SS, and my AC seems to be dead. A buddy of mine knows how to recharge it and everything, so i took it to him to have it recharged and when we started filling it up, we noticed i have a leak somewhere. It sounds like it may be the compressor. Well heres my question, a buddy is taking the AC of his 95 LT1 camaro, so would i be able to use the compressor and hoses and everything and bolt it up to my 99 or is it a different system? thanks alot for the help and i appreciate it.

That's not how you fix it. In fact, it may cause more problems. If you can't afford to get the system checked for leaks, go over all the parts and make sure the fittings and sensors are tight. If they are all tight, then replace all the O-rings. Open all the fittings, pull the old ones out and replace with new ones. Pull vacuum and recharge. If it still leaks down after a few days you might try the Stop-Leak stuff for AC systems. I saw some at Walmart. If your lines are old and cracked they may be the problem, but they cost around the same price as having a shop do a leak check.
You may have no choice but to take it to an AC place and have them do a flourecent dye check or use a sniffer to find the source. Then just replace the one part that's leaking.
