Weird Sound Under the hood First I thought it was the belt slipping, but a friend of mine told me that it was coming from the throttle body. That since I got my air intake, it's running lean or something like that.
Could it be from putting in 87 octane instead of 91?
He also was amazed my car still ran after 137k miles without a rebuild.

Our cars are very under appreciated in durability. You may get some pinging using 87 octane, generally higher octane is better. Get a power tune from Madz28 that runs on 91+ gas. If it sounds like a whoosing, high pitched sound, it is probably just your intake sucking. I don't see how running lean would be a factor?
why would lean affect.......sounds, is you hood closed when you hear the sound most? Mine is an anyoin sound its just my alternater, old and depleated. That could be your noise, its close to the intake.
if it sounds like squeaking its probably your tensioner pulley.. You can get a new one for like 40 bucks at napa tensioner and pulley that is.. I think its just two 10 or 13mm bolts
