Default permanent fix ta headlights

does anyone have agood permanent fix for ta lights. I flipped the gears already and tightened the tabs on the motor but to no avail. They worked for about a week before the tabs came loose and stripped the gears again. I plan on going with the metal gears but is there any way to keep the motor together? I was thinking maybe a small set screw or maybe some epoxy.

Ya this sux, my gear just stripped out this weekend, makes that horrid grinding noise when the lights go down. Same exact thing that happened to my 97 Firebird eventually but I didn't expect this to happen so soon on my 2001 WS6. It doesn't look too difficult to do that brass gear fix but it sucks to hafta pay $85 for the gears and spend 2 hours of cussing doing something like that. Wish there was an easier fix.

I almost thought about rigging some kinda switch to that plug that powers those so I can just close the switch when I want the lights to come down and flip it back up when they get all the way closed.

I rtv'ed the gear case together but I'm talking about the actual plastic motor endcap that loosens and causes the stripping. My idea was to drill small holes in the metal case and into the plastic cap and throw some screws in em so that it never came loose again. just wondering if anyone has tried that or something similar. I don't want to strip out the freakin brass gears too. That would just **** me right the hell off.

I highly doubt you will be stripping out brass gears.

I've read that some people have stripped out the brass gears four or more times. Hell it even says that they can strip out on the web site that sells them. Instead of buying $85 worth of brass gears and praying not to strip them too I decided to buy a new motor. Yes, it was more than Two sets of gears but I'm tired of ******* with it.
