Help A/C went out
I live here in Spring,Texas were it feels like it's about 100+ degrees daily. Right now my money is kind of tight, my wife recently lost her job and bills are piling. Does anyone know of a reputable place that will work with me on a payment plan with the a/c fix? I'm not trying to get over on anyone, and would definitely pay all what I owe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

00Z28NBM - To answer your original question, if for some reason you aren't able to get it fixed without using a shop: there's an Aamco in Spring... I haven't been to this particular location, but if it's like the ones I've seen, they should offer financing and be able to do your AC work. http://www.aamcocenters.com/aamcocenters.asp?ID=24371
Mine went out about 2 months ago. I have a 2000 TA and my AC just stopped working one day.
BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front), Check the relay switch for the AC under the hood. You can swap out the Fuel pump relay with the AC relay (same relay) and try and start the car. If your car attempts to start then shuts off and will not start, then you know it’s the relay.
I don't want to insult your intelligence but this is what I went thru. I'm in Germany, or was at the time, (I'm deployed now) anyway, I went to the parts store a grabbed a AC pressure gage/refrigent filler and a can of refrigent ( thinking that my pressure was low and I just needed to add refrigent to it. When I hooked the pressure gage up to the AC compressor, it registered over pressure (in the red zone). The manual instructed me to seek professional help. I was pissed.
In Germany it is almost impossible to get GM parts. I started going thru additional trouble shooting (checking fuses and the such and ran into the relay). Went back to the parts store and no luck with getting the relay. Well being left with no options left (which I found out later that I already could have solved my problem), I scheduled the ride for AC service. It cost me 70 bucks and they still couldn’t fix it.
Pissed off that I paid 70 bucks for nothing, I lifted the hood and realized that I could switch the AC relay with the fuel pump relay. I did and the car would not start. Switched it back and it started. What a dumb *** I was for just figuring this out earlier!!!!
Hope this helps you and everyone else out there. Save your Money!!! At least if I was in the states, I wouldn’t have had to spend the money. I would have gotten he relay and fixed it before going in for service. SSL. Good luck man.
There are many a/c threads to search on, and several are fairly in-depth.
