"I hear Schaeffer Supreme is very good. Does anyone use this?"

Yep. I do! I'm using their Supreme 7000 blend 10w30 right now in my LT1 Firebird. This oil has proven itself to perform very well in the used oil analysis reports I've seen. It cut my bearing wear (lead content) more than in half compared to Valvoline Maxlife 10w30.
So "Would anyone recommend Valvoline Maxlife for a LT1?" Probably not
