Default 98 firebird stalling after short drive

My 98 firebird starts and runs, takes a little bit to start up. It drives for a short distance (maybe 100 yards or so) and then stalls. I’ve asked around, and it seems that the common consensus is that it could be a fuel pump issue.
I guess I have a couple questions, could this be another issue that wouldn’t be as pricy? Also, would replacing the fuel pump on my own be a huge task? I’ve seen people doing trapdoor mods in order to circumvent dropping the tank, does anyone have any experience doing anything like that?

Thanks in advance.

The trap door is simple. Loosen up tank straps to drop tank about 1/2 in. then make your cut. Here are two pictures. The first one is mine. Yours being a 98 will be in the same location. The second picture are the measurements and the top half is for 98's.
