Ticking?

My car has always made this noise ever since I got it, I'm just wondering what it could be. Whenever my car is running, if you listen closely you can hear a ticking noise coming from the motor. When you rev it up a little the ticking gets faster. It's not very loud and the car runs great. Could it be the lifters? Should I worry about it? I took it to a mechanic when I first bought it and he said it was normal...

yeah i have stock roller rockers and if i put my ear down to where the air pickup for the vent system is i can hear them ticking. I can't really hear them unless i get close. Mabey you have some aftermarket ones on there already. Pull your drivers side cover (since its the easiest one) and give a quick glance.

could be many things. It depends on what kind of ticking it is. Ticking could be an exhaust leak, spark arching from a wire, valvtrain noise or something else.

It could be your lifters, odds are they are. I hear a lot of sticky lifters on our cars and I had the same thing. Do you have enough oil?

LT1 injectors are known for making a ticking noise as well.

Exhaust manifolds are bad about cracking on the B-body cars, not sure on F-body cars, rockers and injectors do make some normal
noise.

Yeah, it's probably a normal noise. Yes, I do have enough oil. I just got it changed about a week ago. I haven't check to see If I have the stock rockers, but I know I do. The girl (who is a pharmacist now) wouldn't have changed something like that unless she had to. She maintained the car very well, but did not mod it at all.
