Synthetic Oil
Synthetic Oil Which one to go with, I dont know and would like to switch to a synthetic. I run valvoline right now and dont want any problems. Which do u guys use and how are the pros and cons when it comes to mobil 1 and royal purple. Which ones better...any comments please. I know thats not a very well developed paragraph but u guys get the idea...thanks for the input.

I find alot of people that run Mobil one in these cars and swear by it haven't done any oil analysis to see what is actually happening.
Mobil 1 (10W-30 & 5W-30) is just barely a 30 weight oil and will shear down to a 20 weight in just a couple of thousand miles.
I even tried using 5 qts of 10W-30 and one qt of 15W-50, while it did make the oil thicker, the amount of wear metals in the report weren't any better.
I finally got a really good analysis out of the mobil 1 (I dumped it out at 1650 miles on the last batch as soon as I received the analysis from the previous sample.
I sampled the oil drained at the 1650 mark - sent it in and the report said I'd finally found the perfect change interval for this oil- I now run the GC for approx. 6000 mile intervals and the reports for this oil at 6000 miles are almost identical to the Mobil 1 analysis done at 1650 miles.
