gauges keep resetting

Default gauges keep resetting
everytime i start the car the gauges move all the way to the right then slowly back and the trip sets to 0. This just started today. Is the battery not holding a charge? Any suggestions are appreciated.

mine too....just started doing it.....and its a 99 also.....guages do the same thing and my trip resets.....its starting to **** me off because i cant keep track of my mileage.

it doesnt affect anything major hopefully, but it pisses me off. hopefully its the battery but i almost have a feeling its not. When i turn the key to turn the accessories on it shows the correct mileage but right when i start the car it goes to 0. annoying.

take the car to autozone have them load test ur battery, if its bad go to sears and buy a die hard or optima battery.

same thing happens on my car.....im pretty sure it isnt the battery....i just had mine load tested here about 2 weeks ago since i put my underdrive pulley on when id sit at stop signs with my foot on the brake it would go below 13 on the voltage meter....it checked out fine but this problem isnt going away.

It's a '99 thing, if the battery is good then it's probably the instrument cluster. GM TSB 99-08-49-009 Trip Odometer Resets to Zero/Replace Gauge Cluster. Plug in the TSB number or gauge sweep in search, I've seen posts on this before. If my gauges did it I'd just ignore it unless I had some kind of warranty that covered it.
