On my 98 it is on the left side of the dash, facing the door. There are two metal delay fuses on the right-middle row. It is the top one. I changed mine to a 30 amp regular fuse when it would turn off after about 30 seconds. There are threads about it on this site.

Here is a link to a page full of F-Body owners manuals that will show you your fuse layouts.

 NO WAY you need to get the regular oem style "circuit breaker". and if I remember right they're 20A and are like a fancy slow blow style fuse that resets itself once it cools down (so to speak) read the last post here splains it all pretty well

My issue was that the rear defroster would turn off after about 30 seconds. The fuse was not working properly.

I could have purchased an exact replacement 30 amp fuse but I didn't. It's still a 30 amp fuse ckt, it's still a 30 amp fuse. If I have trouble with it blowing, I'll try one of the delay fuses. To find out more from other people, search the site for "defroster +fuse".

But it is, in fact, 30 amps.

I wasn't near my car when I posted and said I "think" indeed it is a 30A and yes many have replaced with a standard fuse but in the instance of failure of another part like the switch drawing too much current sending too much through the grid you are much more prone to having a much bigger repair bill by replacing the rear glass for a new defrost grid than if you gew a new breaker to do what it was designed for. with age they become less reliable and will need replacement but put in a standard fuse at your own risk.

I didn't mean to offend you or what ever I did to get such a snippy response. Just simply letting the guy know what it "should" be replaced with (according to GM if he's still under warranty and a few other members on here) versus what can be replaced with according to many folks on here and helps save $10 or so ... but at what potential cost.

my bad

No snippy here any more than "NO WAY."...simply trying to be clear and simple. It goes without saying that we roll the dice on non-standard mods and take what we get. This is what I chose, and I was simply showing why I chose it.

No bad on either side.
