Where is my coolant going?
Where is my coolant going? I recently started loosing coolant but I'm having trouble locating the leak. I'm losing about a quart every 150 miles or so. There are no signs of it on the ground, nor under the hood that I can see. Of course I can't see the water pump area very well. I did a pressure test on the radiator and it holds fine. There is no smoke out the exhaust. Could it be dripping slow enough only while running to mist away while driving. If it were a head gasket wouldn't I see white smoke in the exhaust? Someone also told me that I could test the radiator for carbon monoxide to indicate head gasket failure? The heads are ported but nothing extreme so I doubt that they became porous. There is also no water in the oil. What do you guys think?
this may be a stupid question, but did you fill it up all the way? I know mine tokk a long time, so long infact that i just drove the car and for 2 days straight i kept topping it off until it was full. i'd imagine that would be the best case.
