Thermostat?

Thermostat??? Normally my car runs right at 185 on the temp gauge but lately its been running at 210 and sometimes it climbs higher(only happened once and i parked it right away). Once it reached over the 210 it went right down to 185. Also when it is running at that temp I turn on the heater and there is no heat. Now I am guessing its the thermostat because i know its not air in the lines since it was running fine for over 2000 miles on this engine. My water pump is not leaking at all so I figure that it is still good. Do you think that it is the thermostat? Would i be better off puttin on a 160 Thermostat(the car will be parked during the winter so i don't have to worry about it being to cold) or does the car have to get re-tuned when i put it in?

If your car is that hot and there isn't a heater, then it sounds like your heater core is clogged up. Which is a good possibility with Dex-cool. And if you did put in the thermostat, no you dont have to get it retuned, but guys usually get a tune to have the fans come on sooner. This equals a cooler motor which means it runs more efficient and potentially more horsepower.
