Just do it yourself if you have a couple jacks. Drain the oil, jack the car up, unbolt the 4 bolts on each side of the bottom of the oil pan, unbolt the other two bolts from the underside of the rear of the pan, and it will just drop down. Replace the gasket and make sure you put a light coat of RTV on it where it meets the timing cover on the front. Bolt it back up and torque it to spec and u're good to go.

As for a price quote, the labor would be next to nothing if it was up on a lift.

I would do it yourself if I were you but if you don't have tools... you're kinda stuck.... If you do have tools, its pretty simple....
My guess would be somewhere around $100 but shouldn't be higher than $150.... They'll probably charge you a full hour for the job @ $70/hr or so plus the price of the pan and gasket.

holy crap. i just called the dealer and he said it would be about $400. looks like i'll be doing it myself. <-- and i think that im going to have to jack the engine up a little so i can get the pan down far enough. because i dropped the pan last night and it barely came off.

$400!!!!! How much are they gettin you for the pan?
For that price. I'd tell them to go ahead and do the work as long as they throw me the keys to a Z06 until they're done.

So you took the pan off already?

yea i dropped it down again to see if the gasket was ripped, but i couldnt get it down far enough. But yea $400, thats ridiculous. they must be little kids or monkeys workin over there for it to take long enough to cost $400.
